Overall Atmosphere: Combination
Featuring both cultural and natural attractions.
Combination Atmosphere destinations combine elements of both cultural and natural destinations, where this combination is itself essential to the travel experience. Common examples are Archaeological Sites (where culture is usually experienced outdoors), Scenic Local Markets (where indigenous cultures interact outdoors), Hotsprings and Vineyard Areas (where nature provides the raw materials but humans create the surroundings), and Unique Cultural Landscapes (where humans and nature interact in innovative ways, as in the elaborate rice terracing systems of Asia).
Combination Interests typically fall somewhere in the middle of the three types of primary interests in terms of
(a) how climate-dependent they are
(b) how accessible and physically demanding they are.

The staff was super welcoming and friendly. You felt you had known them for years. The art work through out the building is on point! I didn't end up eating any breakfast but the spread looked generous. Location near university, shops, and bars was really nice! Can easily take public transit or Ride Austin to SoCo area and 6th. They also have free parking on premises if needed. And they have a huge VHS collection in the common area if you feel like just relaxing on the couch! I will definitely be coming back to stay next time I'm in Austin!!
Oh man! This place was the SHIZZNIT!. Security was good liked the lock and key concept.. The beds super comfy and the kitchen was rocking.. Staff especially Ethan gave me all the recommendations I needed for my allergies and places I needed to see. The Hostel is located next to some Major Bus lines, so getting around was not an issue.. Get the $3.50 day pass it lasts for 24 hours and you can take almost any bus with it.. Have Fun and I will be back only because of this hostel.. Cheers
I loved the location and it was so easy to get around from the hostel to everywhere in Austin. The staff were incredible and so helpful and accommodating. The beds were comfortable and the showers had excellant pressure! I will definitely stay here again. There is so many restaurants around the hostel so eating out is not a problem and very affordable. They have laundry facilities. The breakfasts were simple but perfect! It is a quiet hostel so you can sleep easy! I really loved this place.
Absolutely everything! From the moment you arrive you are welcomed into the Drifter family with open arms. The staff are super friendly and are always on hand to offer advice about where to go, how to get there, etc. The pub crawl is an absolute blast too. This is my second time staying at Drifter's and as well as going back again sometime soon, I'd highly recommend this hostel to anyone travelling through Austin!
Great breakfast, excellent community based activities, close to great food (Torchys, Freedman BBQ, Fat Sals, chipotle, coffee Medici coffee
Like everything about the place would stay there again
I love this place because the location the staff they are very nice thanks
I absolutely loved my stay here! Everything was clean and fresh, air-conditioning was constant, and the pub crawl was everything I imagined it would be. I will never forget my time here at Drifter Jacks.
Seriously! I have never stayed at a hostel but this place was AWESOME!!! It was a great atomosphere and The employees were energetic and very cool! I will be staying there everytime I am in Austin.
Nice staff, nice place. If you're up to University of Texas or South by Southwest, this is the place to meet new friends, have fun and save some bucks.

The staff was very accommodating, inviting & friendly....Beyond hospitable for a hostel. Everything clean and the patrons I encountered for my night were warm and friendly. Location couldn't be perfect!
The location was practical and a comfortable walking distance to the MegaBus bus stop. The facilities themselves were clean and organized with kind attention to detail. The staff was friendly and helpful.
The staff was so friendly and accommodating to my needs! They treated me like and old friend.... I highly recommend Firehouse Hostel to anyone truly looking for an authentic experience!
The staff were very friendly and had many great recommendations for us on where to eat, drink and what activities would suit us best. The location is great - just off the Main Street. Beds were big and private. Pub crawl was heaps of fun and Benjamin who ran it was awesome!!
I like how all of the staff members treated me so well! Very polite and respectful! They are the greatest no matter the time of day! Made me feel @ home
Brilliant hostel both in terms of location and quality. Fully recommended!
Ten out of ten for location!!! This place is in the best location ever...easy stumbling distance from the bars in 6th street. Facilities great, staff helpful and a super cool bar on site 👍
$35 to stay right next to 6th street? How can you beat that?!?!
I had to make a change to the booking, and staff member, George, could not have nicer, more responsive, or more understanding and friendly about it. It was so refreshing, and right then and there I know that I would be a loyal guest to the hostel. And for Austin, for that matter. With the hassle of travel at times, delays, etc., it is heartening sometimes to engage with a friendly agent or host that goes out of their way to help and not offer more grief.
The hidden bar behind the bookshelf was a pleasent suprise. We had a private room which was secure, and well decorated.

Exceptional customer service, comfortable rooms, 24 hour fitness center. Very accommodating, especially with regards to my timeline.
Front desk agent was extremely friendly. My bed was firm and very comfortable. Did not hear other guests; very quiet. The kitchen was a nice surprise. There was a full size fridge with freezer, a 2-burner stove, sink, dishes/silverware, and cutlery.
Fair Price for NICE CLEAN VERY COMFY BED and SHOWER in Austin - just south of down-town. 5 min to South Congress Action. 2 min to next Starbucks for breakfast. All in all, great new hotel. Even with work-out roon and snack-bar 24/7. No, stupid "up-charges" for parking or such. All in all: I liked it - a lot for 100.- USD / night - all in. Not bad price for Austin.
The size of the room was huge & comfortable, the heating/cooling unit worked properly & was not cover with dust. In fact the entire room was clean & dustless. Loved being able to find a Smoking room! Absolutely loved the convenience of stove top, fridge, coffee maker, microwave, big screen TV, etc. Being on a special diet like so many seniors it is often essential that I prepare my own food. The Cupboard has a nice selection of products. The FREE laundry is fantastic!
If it's big enough for me to park a 18 wheeler I'm happy
Young man at front counter graham Hartman Was wonderful! He was very helpful in directions and answering any questions we had. He would visit with us and never made us feel like a bother. Room was very nice and clean.
The girl on the front desk when we arrived was absolutely brilliant. She helped enormously and it set the scene for the stay.
The staff were very helpful when I accidentally booked the wrong date they still got me in with a smile on their faces!!
We were informed that the beds had been recently replaced. I was very impressed with the comfort - not too soft, not too hard (which used to be the case in just about any hotel we visited)
It was pretty nice. The staff was friendly and helpful. A little pricey but you get a lot for the money.

Staff was very professional yet friendly. Pillows and bed were very comfortable. Pool area was amazing. Very resort like.
From the time we pulled up to the time we left the staff was AMAZING. This made our 10 yr anniversary well worth the trip. We will be back.
High Class accommodations that made each trip through the lobby good for the self esteem. Not only clean and fresh but someone made sure fresh flowers were everywhere and the staff was always in place ready to serve any need.
For the price this was an amazing place. It is on the Southside of Austin so you don't have to really deal with the traffic of downtown Austin, yet downtown is on 15 min away.
The hotel was fantastic, great location right off of all the major freeways. Staff was super nice! Really clean, super comfy beds, all was awesome! Thanks!

Everything about this hotel was perfect. Every basic amenity one can think of is available in the rooms. Rooms are very decent size and beds are very comfortable. Overall, if you stay here you have to worry about nothing.
The customer service was excellent especially in the late hour that my 6-year old and I came in on a last minute delay due to the cold weather. I had also overslept the next morning due to the lack of sleep we had endured due to the multiple delays from a previous destination, so the front desk people were kind enough to give our room a call to make sure we were up for our shuttle run to make it to the airport and we were able to get to our flight on time! Thank you so much for the amazing service!
Staff very friendly and helpful. Great location for our specific needs.
The friendlynes of staff was awesome and personal! Very understandin

So, you get the benefit of being close to the center but for less than half the price. Plus it is near Lady Bird Lake trails, and cheap restaurants on East Riverside. This is our favorite place to stay when we are in Austin. It is so convenient to the airport and Downtown. The staff is always so helpful. They go the extra mile. We also look forward to the Texas-shaped waffles at breakfast!
Beautiful Room! Our bed was very comfortable and clean, with plenty of pillows. We stayed in a room with a spa and it was every bit of what i hoped for and was gorgeous. The shower head in the bathroom was also very nice with good pressure. There were even pretzels and crackers with bottled water. Ill recommend this place to anyone! Its not just great "for the price". Its awesome.

The location was great. Great distance from everything our family wanted to do and see in Austin.
The breakfast consisted of the basics - cereals, muffins, whole milk and waffles. The eggs were reconstituted; they did have sausage and gravy. Most of this is not within my gluten free diet. I did have some of the fruit and milk. Assortment of teas were good.
Texas waffle was a fun treat. Comfortable bed. AC easy to adjust. Friendly staff. Great value for the dollar. Good lighting and lots of mirrors in the main room. Easy drive to Capitol center. (My sister and I were there for the Woman's March on Sat 1/21/17.)

Good value, daytime staff was really nice, nice grass area for pets, visible security, great if you just want a place to sleep and nothing else, accepts pets, easy to find, day manager very concerned about customer.
I was impressed by the amazing service and dedication the staff had. One lady (Marissa) was so professional and nice she made us feel so very welcomed.
It's was nice and quiet. It was really clean, and the staff was really nice.
Staff, that was there was great. Unfortunately the 'day of protests' by other staff members was truly unfair to the co-workers. Can't help but wonder if most Of your staff ARE ILLEGALS.
Staff was courteous and accommodating...THANK You!
Clean comfy and pet friendly .. perfect place to stay .
This hotel a basic comfortable hotel very close to downtown Austin and the Airport. It is no frills, but it was clean, comfortable and very quiet despite being close to the freeway. It did not have a coffee maker in the room, but there was 24hr coffee available downstairs. The bed was very comfortable, ac great and no shortage of hot water. I did a lot of sightseeing and everywhere was super easy to get to from this location.
location to everything we needed. Including the airport.
Our stay was good. The staff although very nice were not great at following up. They did however make up for it. We would stay here again.

Great staff, best bed and night sleep, well designed rooms, etc all the top marks are well justified!!!
Great location. Easy access with central location. Good value
On the first half of our trip to TX we stayed in a luxury hotel downtown but stayed at the Holiday Inn by the airport when we got back to Austin so we could be close to the airport. The Holiday Inn was so great that we decided we won't stay at the luxury hotel when we go back to Austin. We couldn't have been more pleased with our experience.
the ENTIRE staff was EXTREMELY friendly, from the front desk to the bar/restaurant. everyone seemed happy and genuinely friendly.
Very comfortable stay. We went for a leisure visit to Austin and the hotel was exactly what I was looking for during our short stay. I am very picky when it comes to hotels with details such as fixtures and amenities being cheap and unclean. I was very pleased with this one because although the price was very affordable the environment felt more like a high-end hotel.

My studio room was VERY nice. Everything in the room looked great. It looked like the pictures I saw online. Overall it reminded me of a very small home. The kitchenette was wonderful. I loved the microwave and refrigerator in the studio because I could use my own food or buy it downstairs. I could even iron my clothes if they got too wrinkled in the suitcase. Slept fine. Their free breakfast had many options. Free parking!! The desk clerk who spoke with an British-like accent was also very helpful.
This hotel was wonderful -- And I don't usually say that -- From the friendly staff to the incredibly comfortable room .. Breakfast was delicious and the pool was fantastic.. Just perfect.
Fabulous King Suite, staff friendly, helpful and very polite. Pool area very relaxing with comfortable furnishings. The inside fireplace by the computer center is awesome. The outdoor fire pits and seating area so relaxing. Free breakfasts were loaded with everything and the M, T, W mixers were so much fun....needless to say, we will stay again and so enjoyed our recent stay there.
I actually preferred it's location. I felt very safe in this area, well lit parking lot, close to I35.
I loved that even though we got a late start and would put the do not disturb sign on our room, they would come later in the day at any time and clean and freshen up our room. We had a studio and it was a nice size and had a great kitchen and living room area.
The location was ideal for exploring Austin. I was never more than 15 minutes from anything I wanted to see. The outdoor space is very nice. Several restaurants within walking distance.
Great location. Clean. Great staff and great breakfaat. Nice in room kitchen. Everthing was mostly great.

Room was spacious, comfortable and had a great view! Staff was friendly and informative about the area. They allowed us to stow luggage for a few hours post-checkout so we could continue sight-seeing until it was time to leave for the airport.
Great hotel ! Great location ! Clean ! Great breakfast !
I love the location The staff were great! The facilities are clean and amazing!
Everything was wonderful....great rooms with awesome balcony view & was really cheap! Recommend to all
Everything, very very nice staff. They were smiling all the time and ready to serve you as much as possible. They took care of cleaning like it is theor own house. Breakfast had good selection of food too. It was busy but the staff were doing their best to serve and clean. The room was very nice, clean and quiet
The outdoor pool area was lovely! Great bedsheets! Loved the balcony for our room!
The view of the state capitol and the location was amazing.
The room was excellent. Spacious, and with great views. Staff were attentive and very friendly.
The continental breakfast bar is exceptionally clean, with what appeared to be an employee focused mainly (if not completely) on that task.
This location was in a great location-easy access off the highway and a short walk down into the downtown area passing through the grounds of the State Capilal building. The hotel staff were great with a free upgrade to a luxury suite-breakfast was great.Hotel was also very close to Bullocks Texas State History Museum which was excellent. Recommend a an evening bat cruise-don't bother standing on the bridge-so much more to see from down on the river looking up at the bridge as the bats take flight. The bars on 6th Street were just okay but so many drifters/beggars on the street it just didnt feel comfortable or safe in the evening-the locals call it 'Dirty Sixth' for a reason!

The location from airport is very nearby. It was very quiet. The layout of the room is such that you can't hear the guest next door. There is a refrigerator in the room. The bed is very comfortable. Liz at the front desk is very welcoming and kind.
Beds are so comfortable, staff are all very helpful. Though it rained heavily, I felt back home. Facilities are really good.
The front desk staff and shuttle driver were very welcoming and really made me feel like I was their priority. The location to the airport was close and the facility seemed to be one of the newer Marriott properties that I have stayed in. Also close walking distance to the Waffle House. I would definitely stay here again!

We booked this hotel last minute and we were extremely pleased with our stay. The staff was amazing!!!

Sara was great at the front desk and laundry was done quick. Nice little restaurant and market downstairs for a quick snack or breakfast before heading out.

We loved the breakfast and also the staff, courteous and attentive!
Very professional and kind staff. Made the stay even better!
Peaceful , very helpful staff . We were allowed to check in early . After a long distance travel , finding some time to kill before check in time was very tiring . The staff were so gracious . Anymore hotels are wanting extra money for this and that . We were accommodated free of charge as well . I would reccomend a place like that ,who looks out for their customers and their comfort . Justin was very concientious as well in simple things as asking questions even to transfer a telephone call looking out for the privacy of the customers . Five stars for him .
Staff was very friendly and great breakfast in morning. Easy access on and off freeway and to get around town.
Lobby, the shuttle to downtown, the rooms are beautiful!
All facilities were above standard and were comfortable. Enjoyed the desk and kitchen area with the Coffee pot here instead of on the bathroom cabinet. My husband and I would stay here again if visiting the area.
I liked the layout of the room, with a separate sitting area from the sleeping area. I liked that there was a sink in the kitchenette area.

Room didn't come with a fridge or microwave. We gladly asked the staff for one and they bought one up free of charge
Easy to get to....good parking facilities. We got caught in a downpour and valet personnel got us towels so we wouldn't drip all over the place. Nice touch! Location is close to bike rental which is easy walking distance.
The staff was very friendly and quick to respond to any issues we might have. We needed glasses in our room, and someone came with them within 5-10 minutes.
Loved everything about my stay, staff very friendly and extremely helpful with all my questions and concerns.
And they took care of us. We had a couple of issues where we got locked out or couldn't find a member of our group and the staff took very good care of us.

Bed was super comfy, staff, location and comfort were all 10's! We walked to see the bats on Congress Bridge and also went on the Duck Tour while there. There is great shopping just a few blocks away too closer to the river near 2nd. Also walking distance to the convention center. Awesome location.

Great location! I loved the amenities in the room, especially the Keurig and selection of coffee/tea. The Roaring Fork had fantastic food and drinks!
It was a great rate for staying downtown and being centrally located. Staff was extremely helpful and courteous. Room and amenities were splendid. Only drawback was automatically being charged for mini bar items when we moved to make room in fridge, but this was quickly resolved upon checkout
The hotel is an amazing place to stay at. A beautiful walkway entrance area awaits you and the valet for parking was available instantly. The staff was very helpful and the room itself, although not large was very lovely to sleep in and have all the needs for the stay. The bathroom was amazing and had constant hot water- never went cold. Such a comforting place to be at and have all the interesting places, like the State Capitol to visit nearby in walking distance!

The hotel was extremely helpful when I arrived. I brought the wrong credit card with me and they were able to email and fax different forms to get that sorted out. Without them going above and beyond I would not have been able to stay due to my blunder. The room was nice and clean, there was coffee in the lobby. The bartender next door saved me from a giant, leering drunk ma. Overall, a really exceptional experience for a solo traveler.
The room was very clean and the breakfast was fantastic. I loved having healthier choices such as English muffins and fresh fruit. Thanks!
The Keurig coffee machine in the room was awesome.
Excellent staff. Room was spotless. Hotel was very quite and outside was as clean as the inside. Breakfast was great and got us down the road.

The staff was great. They found out it was our anniversary and upgraded us for free.
Location was excellent, very easy to walk to all the city sites and easy to access the highway. Room was clean, bed was very comfortable.
I got a really nice upgrade b/c there wasn't an available room that I'd requested.
It's a great location and everything was really nice and clean!
I stay here once a year for Bat Fest...it's the perfect location! I reserved a standard room with double-beds, however was given a king bed. The staff immediately checked for availability, and of course none were available. He upgraded us to a suite with a fold out bed at no additional charge and apologized for the inconvenience. I surely don't consider an upgrade an inconvenience! See ya next year!
Clean room and upbeat staff. We will definitely be back.
Valet and front desk staff were wonderful! Facilities and room were excellent and our room faced the river and pool!
We were upgraded to a different room because of a bed issue. That was nice. The room was be beautiful. But we lost our water view.

We can't complain about perfection...The room, location, employees all were very pleasant. We'll be staying with you again.
The room was very clean, comfortable, and updated.
Nice, either new or remodeled room and bathroom. Clean everything. Staff is helpful and friendly. Location was great! Happy to come back next time!
food was great, staff was good, and while most of our time was spent at the F1 races, we did enjoy our time spent at the Hampton
Attention to detail, support and friendliness of the staff. Space and facilities of the room. Very clean and comfort bed.
Staff.... beds..... price.... all exceptional. We are Honors members and are never upset with the chain.
Solid option for lodging that's still close to downtown ATX and the newer built up waterfront near Rainey St. Great freeway access only drawback is the zero walkability for that area. Ask for a newer remodled room. That's a better option than asking for a higher floor or larger room.

The staff were welcoming and friendly. The room was stunning, with touches of local companies like chocolates on the bed (best I've ever had) and a couple of free local beers in the fridge. The shower was stunning too.
More personal than a chain hotel. Off the beaten path but close to downtown. A very nice experience although a little pricey.

Great location, super convenient, I'm so glad we decided to book this!
Bed was super comfy and the house was super quiet. I am a huge fan of modern so I was thrilled with the design and features of the house. Owner was very hands on and helpful. Great location.
Stayed for SXSW, loved the neighborhood and location near South Congress. Better than staying near the convention center in my opinion. Quick $7-8 Lyft or Uber to/from convention center. Didn't take more than 5-6 mins to hail a Lyft/Uber ride. Nice to have own laundry room. Tasteful mid-century modern decor. Thoughtful host, lot's of small conveniences you wouldn't normally have at a hotel. Would stay again.
The design of the 'house' is very modern and very well done. The accessibility to the shops/restaurants in Travis Heights is terrific.
This is a beautiful property in a quiet residential neighborhood, convenient to South Congress Blvd. Two bedrooms, so my traveling companion and I didn't have to listen to each other snore (we are 2 women, both over 65 years old).
Great location and close to many amenities. The condo was well appointed.
I like the design of the place. It's chic. The furnitures are of great quality. Everything you'll need for your stay is available.

This hotel is absolutely fabulous. The staff / service is first class, the rooms are clean, large, well-equipped and have excellent air conditioning.
What I can say.. .I liked everything of this residence. We were so impressed by the cleanliness and the quality of the furniture. The bad was very comfortable. Our room had a desk, living area and a full kitchen including everything we would have needed to cook. The breakfast was included and of good quality. The location is perfect, just a short walk from the 6th street. It is not the cheapest option around but what you get is overall a very good value for the money. Having free breakfast and a full kitchen would save you a lot of money in the overall budget of a trip.
The complimentary breakfast was divine. The location within Austin was perfect for our family,
Comfy, great location, staff was very helpful and friendly! I'd definitely stay there again.
Ability to leave bags with front desk for no extra charge was a HUUUUUGE help! Breakfast buffet was phenomenal!
Pillows were great. Room well arranged and comfortable
The best breakfast by far and long (though - don't try that restaurant for dinner). Very comfortable room. Helpful personnel. And right in the middle of the downtown.
Excellent stay and great location. I wanted to go kayaking and it was 4 blocks walking distance away to Lady Bird Lake and one block away from 6th Street with lots of bars and food to choose from. Champs and Starbucks are in the same building.
Excellent location and nice, comfortable rooms. Would highly recommend.
Perfect location for downtown entertainment, restaurants. Metro stop from airport is just 1 block away.

The breakfasts were good. Pool maintenance was by a mechanical cleaner which was annoying when we were in the pool. However the pool,is nice.
The proprietor was very nice, the breakfasts were excellent and the grounds were beautiful and relaxing. The cottage we were moved to was beautifully appointed and comfortable.
Loved the setting - beautiful!!! Very quiet and the accommodations were lovely.

And breakfast was perfect!
Excellent service. Clean room and nice atmosphere. Good appetizers in the bar. Girl's night out was enjoyable. Will return.
Beautiful room and bathroom with helpful supplies. Very comfortable and clean.
The view was amazing(inside AND out). Loved going up the elevator(the shape the building has on the inside, is just remarkable) and the fact that there was a sushi bar inside the hotel was pretty cool. The room itself was very modern and we really loved it.

The Inn at Pearl Street gave me a great location and also a place to park and free wi-fi! Accommodations were very comfortable and staff friendly and accommodating
