Quebec City

Quebec City is the capital city of Quebec, and a city of about 700,000.

Located at a commanding position on cliffs overlooking the St. Lawrence, Quebec City played an important role during Canada’s early development. Its Old Town is an UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the only city in North America (outside Mexico) with its original city walls.

As in other eastern Canadian cities, ice skating and cross-country skiing are popular in winter.

While French is the official language of the province of Quebec, travelers will find that in most areas they visit, English is widely understood.
