Oxford is a mid-sized city located in southeast England and best-known as the home to Oxford University, the oldest university in the English-speaking world.

The city’s famous “Dreaming Spires” include the medieval churches and colleges that dominate the town in their Gothic splendor.

Among the city’s many landmarks are Blenheim Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The city is set in the picturesque rolling countryside of Oxfordshire, and includes various options for boat tours along the Thames River.

Sprawling, Beautiful Oxford University

The University of Oxford is the oldest university in the English-speaking world, and one of its most famous. Oxford, like Cambridge, differs from many other universities in that there is no 'campus' as such, and no central university building. Instead, the University consists of approximately 40 colleges and associated buildings, such as the world-famous Bodleian Library and several world-class museums.

Each college has its own individual character and history. Many of the college buildings are closed to the public, but have parks and gardens that are open.
Historic Landmarks

Blenheim Palace

Located near Oxford, stands in a romantic park created by the famous landscape gardener 'Capability' Brown. It was presented by the English nation to John Churchill, first Duke of Marlborough, in recognition of his victory in 1704 over French and Bavarian troops. Built between 1705 and 1722 and characterized by an eclectic style and a return to national roots, it is a perfect example of an 18th-century princely dwelling.
